What Do You Have To Say? - Music: My First Favorite Band [Sep. 10th, 2007|11:42 am]
[Tags|, , ]

What was the first band you became a fan of?

I grew up in the Mowtown/Beatles era. Most of my friends were of the British invasion sort, but I loved The Supremes. They moved me. Marie Sprouse

Hi there,

Ok, second try. We are finally going to do it. Move from this state of Maryland, that I have lived all of my life and settle down in North Carolina. I don't know why it took us so long to take the big leap. I do know that it is extremely scarey. Sometimes, it is even horrifying (sp). Here we are, at our age, with great jobs, wonderful friends,a terrific church, a nice home, and family. Yet, we are going to leave it all behind. Relocate in North Carolina, the vacation spot of this family for the past 20 years. It has been a dream that we just refused to let die. Even after all of this time, family and friends were beginning to just think it was just talk. In fact, I was starting to believe that it was just a fantasy. One day I just woke up and said, 'Let's do it today!' Once we started talking about it and making some plans, there was no stopping us. I have to say, that it happened quite fast. Now, we are in a place of concern because we don't know exactly where is the right place for us. We have always traveled down to the Outer Banks, but practically speaking, it is not the best place to find a very good job to support a family unless you have enough money to start a business or something like that. We really love New Bern, but wonder if it is too sleepy for a teenager. Wilmington looks very busy and reminds me of Ocean City. Yuck! Havelock is very military and has some sleeze. Morehead City and Beaufort are very attractive to us with the beach and all, but again, where is the work for a man who has 32 years experience as a maintenance mechanic in a factory. He can also do all kinds of home improvement and is considering working for himself as a local handyman. Still, we need something dependable to begin with. We have looked at some wonderful homes, but until work is established we are hesitant in purchasing a home before the job. Or, do we place a contract on a home first and believe that the job with come? Scarey isn't it. All of this is going on in my mind and keeping me up at night is the hope that my daughter, (you know who you are) will come home and rethink her life. Love ya Hon. So, I guess the reason I am writing all of this to perfect or not so perfect strangers, is because I would love some advice and help. Especially if you are a NC local and live in any of those places that I mentioned, please reply with suggestions and advice. If you know of a good job that you could reccomend let me know. I sincerely appreciate it, please. Thanks. MS

Moving to NC [Aug. 30th, 2006|09:15 pm]

Hey there!!!

Well, we're finally doing it. Going south for the life of me. We've waited 15 years to do this and I can hardly believe that it is finally being realized. I've lost many hours sleep this week just thinking about it and planning and such. You would think that I was a kid on Christmas Eve. My husband just looks at me and shakes his head. I guess he is more focused on him finding employment, because that is what men do and are supposed to do. We women worry about our children and our men worry about paying the bills and providing for their families. I'm blessed. Anyway, he has applied to a few places there and he hasn't heard anything yet. He is very experienced and highly qualified in Maintenance Mechanic work. He has been employed at the same company for the past 23 years. We pretty much have decided on New Bern, NC. But still open for suggestions and especially waiting to hear from the Lord if He has other plans. I would love if any NC locals would post and share their opinions on some of the coastal areas that we are considering. Some of which are, New Bern, Wilmington, Jacksonville, Beaufort, and Havelock. Oh, and yes, we have a teenaged son to consider. He really loves skateboarding and BMX riding and is somewhat afraid that he would find any friends there who share his interests. Please post and be frank, I'm open. Thanks a lot. Marie
